Why a Gap year

A gap year is a period in which you do something different than you have done in recent years. Students often take a gap year after graduating from high school. This period can be used to think carefully about your future and to be able to choose a study that suit you.

During this period you can choose to travel and get to know new cultures. This experience contributes to your development as a person. By stepping out of your familiar environment and broadening your view, you get to know yourself better and this contributes to your self-confidence and independence. Gaining experience while volunteering is also a good addition to your work experience and skills. All these experiences have a positive influence on your study time and make you more employable on the labor market.

Start in Cape Town

Cape Town is a multicultural city full of culture and colour. The Mother City is always developing and we believe it is important to contribute to this. Gap Africa believes that contributing to a better future brings people from different cultures together, this way  you can learn a lot from each other during this work. We are committed to social projects in the field of schools, sports and community outreach programmes. But we also offer opportunities to learn more about nature conservation. This way you step out of your familiar pattern, get to know South African peers and get an insight into South Africans culture and nature.
